    Tornado Pics

These images of the recent tornadoes in Manitoba were gratuitously stolen from

Nature can be amazing at times, even in light of the ensuing damage.

    Fat Nation

Ambulance for obese patients to debut in Calgary

special paramedic trainingApparently our western society is becoming so fat that we are developing new ways to deal with the repurcussions as opposed to dealing with the problems of being fat. We are introducing a new ambulance for really fat people that comes with specially trained paramedics to lift and transport them (ie bodybuilders no doubt).

Since 1985, the number of morbidly (nice choice of words) obese people in Canada has quadrupled, according to the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
Nearly a quarter of Canadians qualify as obese, reports Statistics Canada.
Pretty damned scary stats if you ask me.

No Fly, No Sir I Don't Like It

    Stardate 7768.42

Normally I would laugh at the fact that our esteemed Tory government has finally passed a "No-Fly" list so quickly after the 9-11 attacks and the US enacting a similar law. Please detect the sarcasm inherent in that statement...

Sadly however, just when it seemed like the whole "War on Terror" sham has begun to die down a tad, here comes Stock Day to the rescue!!! The list itself doesn't seem like such a horrendous deal, but the fact that innocents could be stopped from flying, or the list could be intermixed with the US list that includes not only terror suspects but folks that the government simply doesn't like is more of an issue. Not only this, but now anyone "appearing" to be over 12 must be carrying photo ID or 2 pieces of government issued ID.

At least we can take toothpaste on the plane again. Or can we?

    Libs take the lead?

    Stardate 7734.05

Looks like the Liberals could be up on the Tories again according to the latest Decima poll... Of course, these numbers are likely only accurate to +/- 5 in 20 3 times out of 4 LOL...

This is understandeable considering the hot water H-Dawg is in lately over the various "Accords" he seems to like to trash...

    More Harpocracy

    Stardate 7704.40

In Parliament's question period on Wednesday, NDP Leader Jack Layton quoted Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay as saying last month: "'We will not throw a member out of caucus for voting his conscience. There will be no firings on budget votes as we saw with the Liberal government'."

Sadly, this is just more smoke and mirrors from the Tories, as Nova Scotia MP Bill Casey was canned from the Tory caucus for voting against the budget that seems to throw the Atlantic Accord out the proverbial window...
