    Another Prisoner Abuse Conviction

    Stardate 3952.6

Well it would seem that U.S. Army Spc. Sabrina Harman is the second US soldier tried in the now infamous Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal. She waw guilty of 6 charges with her involvement in the abuses. So now, we wait some more. Sentencing is scheduled to start today, and she could face a maximum of 5 1/2 years in military prison. At least someone is geting somethign for some of this.

The thing is, now that the focus has shifted from the administration and the higher ups clearing themselves of any blame, this handful of soldiers will now get a spank on the wrist pretty much, for a situation that rocked many parts of the world. Maybe the SS officers should have gotten a slap on the wrist after World War II at Nuremburg? No, actually, to follow the scenario more closely, all of the higher ups (including the very brass of the SS) should have had their own people run the panels at Nuremburg and been cleared, and then only the soldiers at Aushwitz and other terror facilities would have to have a minimum penalty slapped on them. How about that?

    Nice.
