Hip-Hop: Anti-Misogyny Message
Hip-hop music has long been criticized for being misogynistic—and now the African-American and hip-hop communities are speaking out.
A leading magazine for black women, "Essence" has launched a year long campaign called "Take Back the Music"... Also, Ex-Employees of the popular Rap magazine "The Source", are possibly laying a bunch of charges ranging from degredation to sexual harrassment.
Religious leaders and others in communites which oppose these lyrics and musicians come out whenever the artists are coming to town. Naturally, the rappers in question wave the "free speech" banner at them... but it it? If the lyrics were of a religious nature... watch out! So why are songs degradign women okay? Or killing cops? Oops.
While, we're at it, let's ban all Rap and also Country as it is most likely responsible for 1 out of every 3 suicides and at least 40% of all cases of alcoholism...
* The numbers are not true. I only made them up :D
