Shaun Of The Dead
Well I was fortunate enough to rent and watch Shaun of the Dead last night. I don't normally review movies and stuff, since if I did, it would turn into me bitching about how stupid M. Night Shyamalan's movies really are... Come off it, William Hurt in no way made "The Village" any better than the pile of worm trodden filth it really was... See? However, this one was different...
All in all, I thought the movie was brilliant. A masterpiece of theatrical creation! At first, it seemed rather pointless and almost boring in it's sheer realism. Character development. But of course, it was funny. Then the signs around our hero Shaun; zombies in the street, car alarms, people sick from work... and through all this, he is totally oblivious, wrapped up in his own (very real) life problems. Not until the "drunk" lady in the backyard does Shaun and his fat lazy dope-selling room-mate have any clue what's going on. From then on, the flic rivals any zombie movie ever. Mixing in the pure comedy of many moments with the sheer terror and hopelessness of their predicament, the cast made this movie well worth watching.
Gem: Shaun and his Room-mate sorting through the album collection to see which records to thow at the slowly advancing zombies... I almost lost bladder control at that point... :D
After careful consideration, I give this movie 4 stars out of 5. Well worth a watch, or even a purchase. I will watch it again, guaranteed.
