Bush's Torture Policy Takes a Big Hit

    Stardate 4662.7

MSN - Remember Gonzales? He's the guy that said torture was a-okay. Bush hired him on as the US Attorney General and between them and a few others, they decided that the inhumane treatment of detainees was just fine. Since they were not P.O.W.s, the Geneva Convention didn't apply. Since then, pictures and tales of torture and disgustingly humiliating treatment of these detainees have come to light. Soldiers have been charged and jailed, but the upper brass in the armed forces walked away after investigating themselves and saying "we did nothing wrong"...

Recently, some of these "terrorists" that have been held for years are being released. A thousand actually. To me, this is saying that the original reasons for their detention were in fact, as many thought, bogus. They were only suspects, or just not guily. Why else would the US release such brutal bad guys en masse? They say to ease tensions and to be a good will gesture.

On wednesday, Bush, Gonzales and the rest got a genital cuff from the Republican controlled Senate, who voted 90-9 to approve an ammendment that prohibits the "cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment" against anyone in U.S. government custody, regardless of where they are held. Soldiers will strictly follow guidelines set out in their training manuals for detaining suspects, and their treatment. Many of the soldiers involved in the Abu Ghraib abuses continuously said that they had no direction and that superiors seemed "okay" with the treatment of the abused detainees people.

The Bush administration says that this will limit the president's authority and flexibility in war.

Howso? I simply cannot believe such good and righteous folks would even think about a policy of torture and inhumane treatment, never mind balk at the results when their policy is shot down by their own party-controlled Senate. Obviously, they have lost their sense of reality...

These are bad guys. Bush needs to pay for taking his country and it's citizens in the direction it's going. He needs to be impeached and taken down. Him and his administration of evil.
